I knew the were somewhere in the same city but I couldnt find her, then she remarried and the name changed. All I had was her lawyers addy, and he was a true dickhead. But the games were getting old: changed visitation dates last minute, changed venues, or just got to the point where she would not show or . Then she dissapeared. I tried to work with the system (court, child advocates, fathers rights people) to no avail. Nobody cares about the dad, especially if he fu*ks up bad.

Even though teenagers are hard to deal with, hopefully you can develop a relationship and make up for lost time. Sounds like both of you made mistakes, just know that and move forward from here. Make a Deal??? Hi, I am just STARTING the whole child support thing. I have x kids, and I love them to death. They're older (only x years of C/S), so the checks, they are a startin'. ANYWAY, I have another friend whose husband stiffed her for C/S for MANY years. Her husband was smart. He gave her a "pennies on the dollar" offer when he was years behind and she took it. Can you do something like this? I mean, get an extension of your trial date if you need more time? Raise money on the side (sell stuff, refinance, get a home equity line-of-credit, etc.) and scrape together enough cash pay her off? My friends did this outside of court. I wonder if the courts don't let deals be made on the side. Just some food for thought. If you could tempt her with a chunk of cash it might be a big savings for you. Money talks.
